Avalon Beach is a northern beach side suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. It is 37 kilometers north of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of Northern Beaches Council, in the Northern Beaches region. Avalon is a surf beach approximately 500m long, facing south-east, and bordered by 60m high sandstone cliffs and the rock platforms of Bilgola Head and Hole in the Wall. The beach faces south-east and is bordered by a high headland, Bilgola Head to the north and the lower, shaley Newport Head and rocks to the south.
